I’m pretty damn pumped about the adidas Ultra BOOST 1.0 right now. After the recent release of the Washington Huskies PE, and now the rumored return of both the OG Solar Yellow and OG Solar Red colorways — how could you not be excited? I’ve also been introducing the silhouette into the Concept Lab of late, too; It’s always been a sneaker I wanted to create on. So while I await the return of the two Solar OGs — I’m taking things beyond our own solar system and looking into deep space with this adidas Ultra BOOST 1.0 “Galaxy” Concept.

Colored BOOST soles have always intrigued me. From day one, customizers too to sharpies to color in their crisp white BOOST midsoles — and it took adidas a long, long time to catch up. Only recently have we seen continual colored-BOOST midsoles, but more recently the Three Stripes has introduced patterns and prints — like the upcoming Star Wars collaboration. In fact, it was that pair that got me intrigued more about printed midsoles and how far the brand could take it. I’ve always been fond of Galaxy-themed kicks, but they’re few and far between — and often executed poorly. As always, I’ve opted for a less-is-more approach, letting the bold interstellar midsole print do all the talking, against an all-black base. Small hits of purple on the heel counter branding and lace cage add just enough oomph to the upper without looking too bland or too overpowering; it’s a tough balancing act.

We’ll be back soon with a brand new take on the YEEZY 500 — but until then, you can check out all of our previous Concepts HERE!
