On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Chicago Bulls officially retired Derrick Rose's number 1 jersey. The Chicago-native was drafted by the storied NBA franchise in 2008. He spent eight seasons with his hometown team, during which he became the League's youngest Most Valuable Player at the age of 22 years and 7 months.
In honor of Rose's jersey retirement, a number of initiatives have taken place across the greater Chicago area to celebrate the 37-year-old's impact on the city: longtime sponsor adidas Basketball reissued the former guard's debut signature model—the AdiZero Rose 1—with the help of Foot Locker, while Giordano's Pizza introduced the M-V-Pizza to its menu.
Today, publisher Assouline has joined the celebration with the launch of Derrick Rose: The Poohprint, a comprehensive look at the life of the South Side of Chicago's son. The book has been written by Robert "Scoop" Jackson, a fellow Chicago-native, sports journalist, and longtime friend of Rose.

Derrick Rose: The Poohprint offers a comprehensive look at the life of the generational talent. Jackson's writing and never-before-seen media capture an intimate look at Rose beyond his professional basketball career—showcasing him as a friend, son, brother, husband, and father.
Brenda Rose, the former Bull's mother, provided several childhood photos to the Assouline-published book.
"Every plan got to have a blueprint. The Poohprint is for the kid that don’t want fame, don’t want to be idolized. THIS BOOK IS FOR THE ASTUTE," shared Derrick Rose in an official press release for the project.
A limited quantity of Derrick Rose: The Poohprint will be available on Assouline.com and at the Assouline boutique at the Mark Hotel in New York starting today, Jan. 28. The title will be available globally through Assouline boutiques and select partners beginning in March.
