The Adidas Samba continues to be one of the footwear space's most popular silhouettes, despite the height of its most recent resurgence being last year. Over the last handful of months, the Three Stripes has revisited its oldest design still in production through a healthy mix of inline efforts and collaborations. The latter category has recently spawned a project by Bangkok's Dry Clean Only.
Founded in 2007, Dry Clean Only focuses on sustainable fashion, using and repurposing unique materials to produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Whenever the brand doesn't use recycled products, it works with eco-friendly items to ensure its mission isn't compromised. Over the last 18 years, Patipat Chaipukdee's brainchild has developed highly-covetable apparel, accessories, and footwear inspired by Thailand, institutions like Disney, and art.
In the first-half of 2021, Dry Clean Only launched a limited edition capsule with Adidas Originals inspired by the art of Thai boxing. The range included up-cycled pieces branded with 3-Stripes logos throughout. One of the collection's standout items was a pair of Muy Thai-like shorts. Though simple in design and color execution, the shorts feature "adidas" written in akson thai across the front. "อาดิดาส" reprises its inclusion in Dry Clean Only's impending Samba OG collaboration, taking the form of label text and a "Metallic Gold" lace dubrae. Furthermore, the sneaker arrives with a trefoil-branded, Thai boxing gloves-shaped hang tag that celebrates Thailand.
Enjoy official photos of the two-tone Sambas ahead. Pairs should release via Adidas.com soon for around $120. It's unknown whether or not the model will release globally, but more details are expected by the start of fall.
