Larry June x adidas AdiStar Control 5 Is Actually Releasing Soon
Back in February, the musician and entrepreneur unveiled a special-edition of the retro running model, which has been re-energized by the Three Stripes over the last year. Although savvy fans and casuals alike expressed interested in the project, they were let down as the multi-colored sneaker turned out to be a Friends & Family-exclusive. Official photos of a new pair, however, (acquired by Elden Monitors) suggest Mr. June and adidas are running things back for a public launch.
The collaborative AdiStar Control 5 (SKU: KZ7294) follows a similar design execution as its predecessor. A grey-beige base sets the stage for hits of eye-catching green, orange, and red, with much of the upper's mesh elements opting for gradient finishes. Large "LARRYJUNE" branding appears on the tongue label, cementing the Bay Area representative's play in the annals of Three Stripes history.
Underfoot, the viz-tech sole unit sees a partly-speckled ensemble that's contrasted by traction sections and other components done in vibrant colors.
According to Leonard Eugene Hendricks III, his second AdiStar Control 5 collaboration is arriving to stores soon, so keep an eye on adidas.com.

A long-time fan of retro running models, the San Francisco-based artist has been featured in promotional material for the revival of the Adistar Control 5, a silhouette that debuted in 2008. Although inline styles have lead the charge for the sneaker's retro run, a number of collaborators will also be getting a shot at breathing new life into the design, with June being one of the earlier examples.

The 34-year-old entrepreneur's take on the Adistar Control 5 sees shades of orange and lime green come together with matte beige and shimmering silver to create an eye-catching ensemble rooted in heritage. Larry June's name replaces traditional logo elements on the lateral profile, cementing his place within the annals of Three Stripes history. Other nods to the pair's collaborative nature should appear on the spine, footbed, and packaging (good job, adidas).
Stay tuned for official product imagery. X user @kofromatatf has shared that June's project is a Friends & Family-exclusive.
