DIOS Gives the adidas Adistar Control 5 a Rugged Makeover
Houston’s DIOS (Did It Ourselves) is continuing its run with adidas, this time taking on the AdiStar Control 5 for Holiday 2026.
The project follows the label’s previous work on the adidas Superstar XLG, which brought DIOS’ DIY approach to the shell-toe classic with distressed detailing, removable elements and plenty of Houston influence. Now, the partnership shifts from an Originals staple to one of adidas’ revived early-2000s runners.
DIOS’ AdiStar Control 5 takes a rugged approach, mixing a dark graphic print across the mesh base with tan suede, black overlays and off-white detailing. Bright orange rope laces cut through the otherwise earthy palette, while reflective accents add another layer to the outdoor-inspired look.

Around the heel, things get even more distinctive with a faux-fur treatment, DIOS branding and a “Did It Ourselves” hit wrapping the rear. The usual AdiStar Control 5 tooling remains underfoot, carrying over the chunky shape and visible cushioning that helped define the original 2008 runner.
The DIOS x adidas AdiStar Control 5 is expected to release during Holiday 2026. Exact release details and pricing have yet to be confirmed.
