First-Look: MENACE x adidas AdiStar Control 5 "Heat Signature"

Steven Mena, founder and creative director of MENACE, is turning up the heat on the adidas AdiStar Control 5. The Los Angeles-native unveiled his "Heat Signature" collaboration during ComplexCon.

Although past link-ups between MENACE and adidas Originals have been ornate and story-driven, Mena's AdiStar project opts for a more eye-catching makeover that's still rooted in his personal journey.

The thermal map printed throughout the retro runner's upper speaks to the grit and energy that being an entrepreneur has required over the last 13 years. The "Heat Signature" adidas, then, celebrates the 13th anniversary of MENACE, too.

The collaborative AdiStar Control 5 features a number of signature elements from the MENACE imprint—namely "M" co-branding and steel-inspired elements around the heel.

Mena's "Heat Signature" project is set to release during the Holiday 2026 window, although no specific date has been disclosed as of yet.
