ASICS continues to delve into its expansive archive to deliver refreshing takes on beloved designs from the past. Recently, the Japanese institution launched the Kendrick Lamar-approved GEL-Kayano 20 in a series of new looks.

Although the 20th GEL-Kayano debuted in 2013 as a cushioned, stability-focused trainer for runners, the silhouette has enjoyed a second-life amongst savvy fashion enthusiasts over the last handful of years. Its busy mesh upper and technical, performance-driven sole unit come together to deliver a product that's engulfed in nostalgia while still being very much so capable of modern life. A mix of tonal and multi-color updates have allowed folks of all style preferences to enjoy the sneaker, too.

Kendrick Lamar wore a collaborative version of the ASICS GEL-Kayano 20 during his sit down with Apple Music's Nadeska Alexis and Ebro Darden ahead of Super Bowl LIX. While a lot more muted and inspired by trail-running models, the pair co-signed by the Los Angeles-native reveled in the silhouette's original DNA.

The latest take on the beloved trainer opts for a timely "patriotic" look. An off-white, 'Cream'-colored mesh base sets the stage for a medley of 'Deep Marine' and 'Red' accents across the upper and sole unit. Visible GEL-units underfoot enjoy ruby flair while the robust rubber coverage across the outsole keeps things toned done in the titular navy-like hue.
