Juliana Salazar's ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Is Elegant and Practical

Over the years, Juliana Salazar has been lending her creative vision behind-the-scenes to some of the world's most influential fashion brands. To kick off 2025, however, the cultural connoisseur has stepped into the spotlight with a collaborative ASICS GEL-Kayano 14.

While not her first project with the Japanese sportswear giant, the impending GEL-Kayano is Salazar's breakthrough. In comparison to styling work she did in 2023, the new 'Eucalyptus/Vanilla Ice' proposal delivers a lifestyle-focused update to the retro running sneaker. The straightforward, but compelling color scheme was inspired by the Miami-native's wardrobe and favorite art pieces, resulting in an offering that's equal-parts elegant and practical.

Akin to other popular ASICS styles, Salazar's collaboration opts for a near-tonal finish across its mixed-materials upper. Vector branding and synthetic panels around the heel deviate from the muted off-white that takes over the bulk of the top-half. Underfoot, GEL cushioning at the rear enjoys cool blue flair that helps the runner pop. The brand's Sound Mind, Sound Body mantra is stamped onto the insoles, serving as a reminder to take care of oneself.
