If you grew up watching Mexico football at the club or national level throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, you likely remember domestic kit manufacturer Atlética. Founded in 1995 by José Martinez Ramírez in the country's state of Jalisco, the sportswear brand has re-launched for the modern era, and it's reissuing the Mexico national football team's 2002 World Cup™ jerseys for the occasion.
Today, "La Selección" is sponsored by adidas, with which it has released the best-selling jersey of the 2026 World Cup™, but the early aughts saw Mexico wear designs by a homegrown brand. Although Atlética's designs were much tamer than some of the team's more recent kits, many fans of the national team remember the 23-year-old jerseys fondly given their simplicity and Mexico's memorable run during the World Cup™ hosted by South Korea and Japan.
As with several Mexican sportswear powerhouses from the past, Atlética had largely disappeared over the last decade, making way for other domestic brands to claim their stakes in the Liga MX and other Mexican sports endeavors. As of late 2025, however, the Jalisco-based company has relaunched as a destination for stylish, high-performing athleisure.
Proudly Mexican, Atlética also wanted to celebrate its role in Mexico's football heritage, especially as the country co-hosts another World Cup™ tournament. To this end, the family-owned business has reissued Mexico's 2002 Home, Away, and Third jerseys.

Atlética's 2002 jersey reissues are made in Mexico just like the original designs, but feature some differences from the shirts famously worn by Javier Aguirre's squad, which included Jared Borgetti, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, and Rafael Márquez.
The biggest change between OG and retro editions is the crest of the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación, A.C. (FMF). The 2026 jerseys feature an outline of Mexico's emblem from the early 2000s, which saw an overhaul ahead of the 2022 World Cup™. Likely due to a licensing issue, Atlética forwent using any official FMF branding on the retro; instead, the old crest's silhouette is left white. A multi-colored "2002" takes the place of the original eagle-and-football logo.
The chest's right side keeps its Atlética athlete symbol intact, making all three retro jerseys instantly recognizable by longtime fans of La Selección.

Era-informed piping, contrasting panels, and other design elements appear across the trio. Each shirt's main green (Home), white (Away), and burgundy (Third) tone reprises its role, capturing a fondly-remembered era of Mexico's national football team.
Mexico's flag appears on the right sleeve, just underneath an emblem that commemorates South Korea and Japan hosting the '02 global football tournament.
Enjoy campaign images of the national team jersey reissues ahead. Each shirt is available via Atletica.mx and retails for 1,299 MXN (approx. $74.22 USD). As of writing, shipping is only available within Mexico.
