So, they’re no longer for Big Ballers Only?
When Lonzo Ball’s debut signature sneaker, the ZO2 Remix, hit the scene last year, it caused quite a noise.
No, not because of it’s blatant rip-off of BOOST and the Kobe series, but its almost $500 price tag, which was justified by BBB Founder (and Lonzo’s dad) LaVar Ball as a snekaer for “Big Ballers Only”
Because if you couldn’t afford it, you’re not a Big Baller.
But it seems like LaVar has changed his tune — perhaps sue to sluggish sales of an overpriced, under developed sneaker? We think so.
The follow up to the ZO2 Remix, the Z02.19, debuts at a much more realistic price point of $200 — even then, it’s a bit of a stretch, it’s retailing for more than any other current NBA player’s signature sneaker.
But, surprisingly, the sneaker features a few improvements like a forefoot strap, which is made from a full grain nappa leather and the addition of suede hits on the upper and toe box. Other elements like the mesh upper and a midsole that BBB claims to be “40 percent better than EVA foam” separate the sneaker from its previous iteration, according to Slam.
