Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Oklahoma City Thunder have had some downtime after sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the 2024-25 NBA Playoffs. The Canada-native took some of his break to unveil a new colorway of his highly-anticipated Converse SHAI 001.
SGA's debut signature model, which is set to hit retailers throughout fall in a tonal "Butter" look, has quickly become one of the more exciting offerings from under the Nike, Inc. umbrella. Its unorthodox design and personal input from the guard have brought a new aesthetic into the signature basketball footwear space. Its newly-surfaced "Charm Black" finish keeps things uniform across the zippered-upper and modern tooling, with the Thunder superstar sharing that the forthcoming launch draws inspiration from his mother, Charmaine. As written on Instagram, the "Charm Black" SHAI 001 is "elegant, mysterious" and unapologetic—just like his mother. Throughout his time in the NBA, the 26-year-old has displayed much of the same qualities on the biggest stages.
