Not what we wanted to hear.
Oh man. This is the last thing that NBA fans need. Everybody wants Gordo back on the court, regardless of how you feel about those slimy Celtics.
The gun forward says he is managing back soreness that was getting “progressively worse”, so he can make it to the saeson opener against the 76ers.
Gordon Hayward said his back is feeling better. It got progressively worse before he took a couple days off. Said he has discovered the rest of his body has to readjust to playing again.

“That’s what made me feel like I needed to dial it back a little bit,” Hayward said. “In the past, it’s bothered me but always calmed down and was fine with treatments and stuff. But this time it was getting worse, especially after playing.”
The Boston Celtics have said that Hayward will be ready for the NBA’s opening night, so that’s good news!

But really, here’s no need to rush him back — there is still another 81 + games to go for the Celtics this season. Especially when Hayward’s recovery stalled yesterday.
“…I don’t feel comfortable on the floor yet. It’s one thing to be physically able to do everything,” he said. “It’s another to be a basketball player — the timing and the rhythms. When you’ve been playing a long time, you just know…”
Here’s hoping you’re well soon, bro!
