Jimmy Butler has Been Traded to Philly in a Move No One Saw Coming

Football takes ANOTHER hit, because we’re all talking about the NBA on a Sunday — and you can thank Jimmy Buckets once again.

YEP — the Jimmy Butler saga has finally reached conclusion, with the Philadelphia 76ers the team to finally land the disgruntled All-Star, who acquired him today in a blockbuster deal, as per NBA insider Shams Charania.

Butler and former first-round pick Justin Patton are heading to Philly in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a second-round pick in 2022.

Talk about a good deal for Minnesota! Considering Butler was leaving Minnesota at the end of the year anyway, they got lucky here. But Jimmy did do himeself and the Wolves a favor by playing some decent ball this year. Despite his public distain of the behavior and work ethic of fellow stars Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, he’s managed to still be a great teammate,  scoring 21.3 points per game and grabbing 5.2 rebounds. His 2.4 steals currently lead the NBA.

And although the 76ers weren’t on his original list of teams he would sign with, they provide him with an opportunity to reach the Finals in 2018 — and he’s close enough to the opportunities only found in New York City.
