LeBron James has More Instagram Followers than the Top 10 NFL Players Combined
LeBron James is undoubtedly the most popular player in the NBA (sit down Curry fanboys), but his Instagram account confirms that he is more popular than any NFL player, by a wide margin.
Over 42 million Instagram followers leaves LeBron with a little less than 30 million more with the NFL’s most popular Instagrammer, Odell Beckham Jr.
How dominant is the NBA on social media? LeBron James has more Instagram followers than the top-10 most-followed NFL players COMBINED. And NBA’s official IG has a larger audience than NFL, MLB and NHL put together. https://t.co/X0xCxbTPyQ pic.twitter.com/M6ADYbciOd

This is a statistic that might not ooze relevance, but it does say something about the legacy that LeBron will leave behind if his body ever decides to shut down. Next to Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Steph Curry, Tom Brady, and Neymar Jr, LeBron is one of the most recognized athletes in the World.
These stats also speak volumes to the NBA remaining ahead of the game in terms of appealing to the mass audience.
The NBA is always looking to market and expand its product. If Roger Goodell was smart, he’d be telling his polarizing players like Odell Beckham Jr., Rob Gronkowski, Todd Gurley, Antonio Brown, JJ Watt, Ezekiell Elliott, Aaron Rodgers and more to begin using their social media accounts to advertise the NFL. LeBron shouldn’t be doing it for them!
The NFL should copy LeBron’s playbook. Not only is he arguably the best player of all time, but he’s making moves off the court, too.
