Report // Markelle Fultz Wants Out of Philly

. . . although his agents flatly deny it.

We don’t know who to believer here.

Markelle Fultz has had a dreadful start to his NBA career in Philadelphia. And per a breaking report this afternoon, he is looking to reverse his fortunes with a fresh start on a new team.

And who could blame him for wanting a fresh start?

The 20-year-old Fultz has played in 19 games this season, shooting 41 percent with an average of eight points and 3.1 assists per game. Things have not gone as expected for the former No. 1 overall pick, to say the least. Agaian, he’s currently out of action — again — as he awaits another shoulder examination,. If all of that isn’t shitty news for the Sixers, Fultz has piled another hot steaming one on the franchise.

As per Sam Amick of The Athletic:

Markelle Fultz is having a wrist issue examined next week and would prefer a move to a new team, sources tell @JaredWeissNBA, @DerekBodnerNBA and I.@ShamsCharania & @DavidAldridgeDC also contributed to a new report, now on @TheAthleticNBA https://t.co/chrS4TgruF

But that doesnt seem to be the case, according to his agents, the Raymond brothers:

Raymond Brothers, the agent for Sixers guard Markelle Fultz, tells ESPN: “I have given no indication to Elton Brand or anyone else that Markelle would prefer to be traded. My focus is to get Markelle healthy. End of story.”

Things could get particularly juicy depending on how this loose talk shakes out. If Fultz indeed wants a trade, there could be plenty of suitors lining up just based on the potential he has. The pricing considering his draft position, injuries, and general professional woes would also be an interesting aspect of the situation, of course.

As it stands, the Boston Celtics just seem smarter and smarter for passing up on Fultz when they held the first overall pick in 2017. Remember that? Right now, Philly sure wishes they didn’t.
