Despite a noticeable wane in the popularity of retro products, including icons like the Air Force 1, Nike Dunk, and Air Jordan 1, Nike and Jordan Brand are undeterred in their efforts to refresh and expand their lineup. Spring 2025 will see the introduction of a promising new colorway in the Air Jordan 1 High OG series, dubbed "Deep Royal Blue," which joins the impending "Rare Air" collection for the brand's 40th anniversary celebration.
The pair joins three other confirmed "Rare Air" releases, including the Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 3, and Air Jordan 1 High OG "Cinnabar."
Taking a Union-like approach to the design, The pair blends OG-inspired Neutral Grey collars and uppers borrowed from the original "Strom Blue" (Kentucky) colorway. OG inspiration continues the addition of black tongues and wear-away Black Swooshes that reveal a layer of red beneath, ostensibly adding elements from the Black Toe, Chicago, and Bred designs.
Interestingly, Wings logos on the ankles alternate between "Air Jordan" and "Nike Air" lettering.
