Tinker Hatfield's Air Jordan 3 design from 1988 continues to enjoy time in the spotlight. Although it's inspired off-shoots over the course of its lifespan, its original specifications continue being the most popular.
Recently, RIF Los Angeles took to Instagram to showcase a never-before-seen pair of the third-ever Air Jordan. Reportedly a promotional sample from 2023, the retro features a suede and ripstop nylon build that falls inline with some of Nike, Inc.'s Winterized offerings. An oatmeal-reminiscent hue joins black contrast for an understated look, although hot pink accents across the spine, along the tongue, and via other elements make a bold statement. A speckled finish takes over the midsole, while the outsole opts for a gum brown finish that falls in line with other cold weather-ready footwear.
The most eyebrow-raising aspect of the newly-surfaced AJ3 is the unique ACG Jumpman logo on the insoles. The pair, then, is a cross-departmental project between Jordan Brand and Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear). A similar linkup occurred between Michael Jordan's imprint and Nike SB in 2023.
A Nike.com/Jordan release could eventually take place, but no word has been confirmed by either party involved.
