Jordan Brand's mission is simple: to produce top-performing basketball footwear for the evolving game. It's been doing just this since 1985, but along the way, it's expanded its scope of focus to include quality gear for other sports, in addition to fashion-first styles. The Air Jordan 4 RM falls into the latter category, but the restomod design continues to harken back to His Airness' playing days with the occasional reference to the Chicago Bulls color palette. Case in point?: A newly-surfaced "Bred" makeover.
Launched to market with the help of Nigel Sylvester, the silhouette modernizes Tinker Hatfield's decades-old Air Jordan 4. The result is a sleeker offering that faithfully transports the late 1980s design to the modern era. Akin to classic cars, tooling is kept intact on the RM-variant, which seems directly borrowed from an original AJ4 release on the latest "Black/Cement Grey/Varsity Red/Summit White" ensemble. Up-top, the presentation deviates from MJ's beloved fourth signature model, with panels opting for updated materials and layout.

The final product is different enough to not confuse savvy consumers, but similar enough to have some folks do double-takes. Nike Air text on the spine further strengthens the self-reference from Jordan Brand, although the restomod edition features a ruby-colored wordmark instead of traditional "Cement Grey."
Other updates to the Jordan 4 RM have taken on black-and-red color schemes as well, but none have followed the original "Bred" pair's layout and shades as faithfully. The move will virtually guarantee that the Sylvester-endorsed silhouette sells out upon release, while also re-energizing the design. Some of the AJ4's other original color schemes could eventually land on the modern rework.
