The Air Jordan 9 “Olive,” a distinctive and somewhat polarizing chapter in the Air Jordan lineage, is set for a highly anticipated re-release in Holiday 2024.

This comeback follows the sneaker's storied journey since its initial release in 1993, a year marked by Michael Jordan's sudden departure from the NBA. Despite Jordan's absence from the basketball court, Nike, Inc. continued to forge the Air Jordan legacy, with the Air Jordan 9 epitomizing Jordan's global appeal and influence, a narrative poignantly captured in the sneaker's design choices.

The original run of the Air Jordan 9 included a few notable colorways that each told a different story. From the “True Red” and “Charcoal” representing the Bulls to the “Dark Powder Blue” paying homage to Jordan’s alma mater, each colorway held significance. Among them, the “Olive” stood out as an experimental foray into off-court color schemes, initially underperforming in sales but later cultivating a cult following.

Though eagerly awaited, the 2012 reissue of the Olive 9s faced criticism for its deviation from the original in shape and material quality. However, the colorway remained relevant, reappearing in a winter-ready Boot version in 2017 and being playfully referenced in the 2022 “Olive/Aqua” release.

Enjoy an official look at the 2024 re-run below, ahead of it's return to shelves on November 9th.
