It seems that Jordan Brand is planning to be part of the Super Bowl LXI conversation come February 2027.
According to the duo of X user @zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files, the eponymous imprint will release the Air Jordan 9 "Super Freak" retro on Feb. 13, 2027. Originally believed to be a faithful recreation of Randy Moss' Minnesota Vikings-inspired Player-Exclusive (P.E.) from more than 20 years ago, it's now being reported that the "Super Freak" pair will take after the former wide receiver's original signature shoe with Team Jumpman: the Jordan Jumpman Super Freak.
Renamed to Jordan Cover 3 in 2010, the silhouette marked an important chapter in Michael Jordan's label as it allowed it to make a grand entrance in the NFL in the year 2000. Moss' turf model debuted in "White/Black/Purple" and "Black/Silver" color schemes, with the former expected to return in 2027. The AJ9 "Super Freak" draws inspiration from this silhouette, abandoning the aforementioned Vikings P.E.-inspired makeover.
Stay tuned for more details about the special-edition retro as its Nike.com/Jordan release inches closer.
Outside of the world of retro basketball product, adidas presents the CLIMACOOL+ Slides cooling concept.
