Concept Lab // Air Jordan 4 “Toro 2.0”

Historically speaking, Jordan Brand has a penchant for reissuing old favorites in both true-to-original forms and in slightly-tweaked variations. Take this year’s Air Jordan 5 “Raging Bull” and “Stealth” releases. The former is set to return in its original blocking and build, whilst the latter has subtle changes from its preceding release, hence its 2.0 tagline. And with the release of the Stealth 2.0 approaching this weekend, we took some time out to think on other classic Air Jordan colorways that we wouldn’t mind seeing a “2.0” version of, too. Whilst there were some bangers thrown around — the “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 5 and the “Peapod” 8s to name a few — there was a common consensus around the Air Jordan 4 “Toro”, the silhouette’s first red-based release.

It should come as no surprise that many have been calling for a reissue of the 2013 release, with red-based releases always held in high regard. Should Jordan Brand choose to reissue the release? Great. Should they choose to deliver a 2.0? We’re tipping that not many people would object, especially if they came out looking a little like our visualized creation above and below.

Our imagined release forgoes the use of grey, save the brushed chrome branding, in favor of a classic Bulls red, black, and white build. Here’ we’ve kept the signature red nubuck upper, as well as other original elements like black at the mesh underlays, wings, rear clip and midsole paint, and piercing white midsoles. Grey outsoles, eyelets, and liners are swapped for black, as is the tongue tag — finished here in nubuck, too.

Though just an imagined pair, it’s very possible that, if we don’t see a re-release of the 2013 Air Jordan 4 “Toro Bravo” in the near future, that we may see something like this hit shelves in its place. Either way, it would be a winner.
