The Air Jordan 9 Low Golf "Space Jam" Releases February 23
In a move that bridges iconic cinema and the golfing green, Jordan Brand is set to release the Air Jordan 9 Low Golf "Space Jam," a sneaker that tips its cap to the original colorway spotlighted in the celebrated Warner Bros. film.
This release is a direct homage, reimagining the very sneakers that Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck famously secured for Michael Jordan back in the real world.
The Air Jordan 9, while not worn by MJ on the basketball court during his initial retirement, was immortalized on the silver screen, cementing its legacy within the Jordan lineage. The new "Space Jam" iteration takes this cinematic heritage and adapts it for the golf course, maintaining the OG colorway's essence with some modern adjustments suitable for a different performance.
This low-top version retains the black, white, and red palette that fans will instantly recognize but with alterations that speak to its new domain. The upper's transition to a low cut offers a more relaxed fit, suitable for the walk and stance of golfers. The switch from the basketball shoe's traditional traction to a golf-specific spike plate is a practical pivot, ensuring grip and stability on the turf, which is critical for the sport. Furthermore, introducing black patent leather on the mudguard overlays is a clever twist, linking this design to another "Space Jam" sneaker, the Air Jordan 11, known for its shiny finish.
Enjoy an official look at the pair below, and expect to see these roll out at select Swoosh stockists and Nike.com on February 23, 2024.
Of course, this isn't the only low-top "Space Jam" release from the brand this year, with the AIr Jordan 11 Low set to debut this summer.
