First introduced in 2017 as part of a 45th birthday tribute to the late Christopher Wallace, the Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13 remains one of the rarest and most culturally significant pairs in Jordan Brand history. Now, English Sole offers a closer look at the elusive friends-and-family exclusive.
Initially believed to be limited to just 23 pairs, it has since been revealed that a larger, undisclosed number were produced and distributed to friends, family, and members of the Wallace estate. Despite the expanded distribution, the pair never made it to retail shelves—cementing its status as a grail for both sneaker collectors and hip-hop historians.
In 2023, 23 pairs were auctioned off, raising $510,300 for the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation, which supports inner-city youth education.
The design features a sleek black build, constructed from premium suede and leather. Each tongue comes embossed with a portrait of Biggie, while motivational phrases like “Think BIG” and “It Was All A Dream” are stitched behind the tongues—two signature nods to his life and legacy. A special edition box and commemorative tissue paper round out the tribute.

With its bold storytelling and rare status, the Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13 remains a powerful symbol of hip-hop’s influence on sneaker culture—and a reminder of Biggie’s lasting impact on the world.
Of course, this isn't the only footwear tribute to Biggie, with DJ Clark Kent's bespoke Coogi Air Force 1 from 2018 one of the most remarkable designs ever crafted.
