The Jordan Brand 30th Anniversary "Space Jam" Collection will go down as one of Team Jumpman's most-ambitious projects of the 20th century. Although no one might've expected the Air Jordan 1 Mid to form part of the range, its inclusion makes perfect sense.
The mid-top silhouette might not boast the prestige of the Air Jordan 11 "Space Jam" retro, but it's been much more accessible over the last decade, allowing casual consumers to partake in MJ's sneaker legacy. The model's familiarity and versatility make it an important canvas as Jordan Brand operates at the intersection of sport, fashion, and culture to celebrate 30 years since the premiere of Space Jam.
As with a previously-seen low-top, the commemorative AJ1 Mids draw their color schemes from different components of the iconic Warner Bros. film. One pair keeps things tame and more general, while the other brings Bugs Bunny to sneaker-form once more.

The tongue labels on the latter pair—which has only surfaced in Kids' sizing as of writing—see traditional Jumpman logos replaced with an "Air Bugs" symbol. "HARE" messaging is found underneath the reimagined logo, simultaneously playing with usual "AIR" messaging and calling out Bugs Bunny mid-flight.
The hare-inspired Jordan 1 Mid takes on a "Light Smoke Grey/University Red/Cool Grey/Varsity Royal" color scheme that resembles the Tune Squad basketball uniforms worn in Space Jam. Hairy suede on the forefoot and profiles further brings Bugs to life.
By comparison, the pair's counterpart opts for a rather-muted "Black/Action Green/Varsity Royal/Yellow Zest" makeover. The shimmering finishes on profile Swooshes and lateral ankle's Wings insignia suggest the second mid-top retro simply nods to the movie's intergalactic themes.
Enjoy official photos of the Space Jam-inspired Air Jordan 1 Mids ahead. Pairs are expected to hit Nike.com/Jordan on Thursday, Nov. 5.
