Apple’s iconic sneaker emoji has transcended the digital realm, becoming a real-life, wearable sneaker. Artist and designer Jose Wong, under his label ABCD, has created the 'Shoe 1,' a design that draws heavy inspiration from New Balance’s classic 574 silhouette. As sneaker legend Steven Smith noted, the 'Shoe 1' is a stitch-for-stitch reimagining of the 574, blending Apple’s tech aesthetic with New Balance’s revered heritage.
Crafted with premium full-grain nubuck leather and breathable mesh, the 'Shoe 1' maintains a sleek, minimalistic look. The standout feature, however, is found in its foam insoles, where playful details reference Apple’s A-series processors, adding a fun, tech-savvy twist to the footwear design.
The original New Balance 574, released in 1988, was a quietly influential model known for its craftsmanship and understated style. While it didn’t have the celebrity endorsements or flashy marketing campaigns seen with other models, it gained a cult following in places like Harajuku, Japan, where it became a symbol of street style and authenticity.
The 'Shoe 1' is priced at $219.90, available in sizes 5 to 12, and shipping begins soon.
