Former Knicks Forward, Latrell Sprewell, Hints at DaDa Supreme Spinner Retro in 2026

Another day, another sneaker rumor. And while those tapped in to the world of sneaker media have grown accustomed to reading about future Air Jordan retros well before the brand hints at certain releases, it's likely no one could've predicted the return of Latrell Sprewell's DaDa Supreme Spinner from 2004.

Teased by the former New York Knicks forward on social media, the news falls in line with some of the industry's biggest players retroing performance basketball footwear from the early aughts. Adidas Basketball continues to rebrand the late Kobe Bryant's signature sneaker line, while Nike Basketball keeps finding success with designs from this era. DaDa, however, didn't have the firepower to compete with these brands back in the day, and surely doesn't more than 20 years later, but their rumored retro could be well-received similar to recent bring-back efforts by AND1.

Currently, Sprewell is involved with the Knicks and Madison Square Garden in community and media-related roles. His hint at a Supreme Spinner reissue arrived days after his former team eliminated the Boston Celtics to advance to the 2024-25 NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Although the DaDa-backed signature silhouette was popular in the mid-2000s, netizens have already taken to social media to share how the sneaker wasn't the most durable, pleading for the teased retro to be better in quality.

It's important to note that the most recent hint at the Spree's return isn't the ex-NBA player's first announcement of its kind. Throughout the mid-2010s, Sprewell shared on at least two occasions that his DaDa Supreme Spinner basketball shoe would be brought back in the same way designs like the Air Jordan 1 are. These announcements, however, never resulted in any release.

The current status of DaDa's operations is uncertain. A quick Google Search produces a number of Instagram accounts claiming to be the brand's official profile. The most built-out platform references DADA SUPREME Europe, an imprint that might've purchased rights from the New York City-founded label to produce and market items overseas.

Nevertheless, if done right, a retro of the wheel-donning basketball sneaker from '04 would likely have a big moment.

Stay tuned for firm release details for the Supreme Spinner.
