The world of Nike SB has consistently brought a certain playfulness into the world of sneakers since 2002. In November 2008, the skateboarding-obsessed team launched a pair of the SB Dunk Low dubbed "Mosquito" thanks to a cheeky graphic printed onto the insole. This release has gone on to become a fan-favorite, but it was almost accompanied by a never-released pair that utilized the signature color palette of OFF!® Mosquito and Insect Repellents.

The unreleased Nike SB project sees vibrant shades of green, orange, and yellow across the puffy tongue-edition of Peter Moore's iconic Dunk Low. Citrus hits land on profile Swooshes, Achilles' heel panels, laces, and tongue, delivering a much more eye-catching aesthetic than the "Mosquito" SB Dunk.

The involved parties never disclosed why the OFF!®-inspired pair never released, but it's believed that three pairs of the colorful project made it out of Nike's factories. It's important to note that the project, like so many popular Nike SBs that evoke images of pop culture figures and global brands, was not an official collaboration with OFF!®. Instead, it was developed as a clever counterpart to the mosquito-informed pair that hit skate shop shelves in '08.

Instagram user @casa_soles recently took to the platform to offer a sample pair of the OFF!® Dunks for $40,000 (USD) or better offer. The asking price might seem extremely high, but, if the pair is legit and truly one-of-three, it could be justified to own a little-known, rare piece of Nike Skateboarding history.

It's unlikely that an identical pair of SB Dunks ever releases via Nike.com, but stranger things have happened.
