Hirofumi Kojima Teases atmos x New Balance 1000 'bāṅdhnū' Collab
What hasn't atmos done in the last 25 years? The Japanese brand's Head of Product, Hirofumi Kojima, recently teased an answer to this question: brought a bandana-inspired makeover to the New Balance 1000.
Previewed via Instagram, the sneaker adds yet another tally to the expansive list of collaborations between the Tokyo-based institution and sportswear companies. A proper, thorough backstory to the project wasn't shared with Kojima's teaser image, but the longtime creative included the Hindi word bāṅdhnū in his caption. When translated into English, bāṅdhnū means "to tie," and has been long-thought as the origin of the word "bandana." Shots of the unreleased New Balance 1000 reveal the retro running sneaker covered in a simple 'Black/White' color scheme common to bandanas. Furthermore, paisley patterns appear throughout the sneaker's textile upper and insole.
Kojima has yet to share an official release date for atmos' bandana-inspired collaboration, but the NB 1000 should hit the Japanese label's channels and shops before spring is over.
