New Balance and Bape have hit the ground running with a collab that injects some streetwear flair into this insanely comfortable shoe. After a 10 year hiatus, the NB 2002 (Renamed the 2002R) returned last year highlighted by its collaboration with Salehe Bembury. Following the popularity of this drop, the 2002R is again reworked this time by legendary Japanese streetwear giants Bape. Fresh from their Adidas collabs, the ape are taking things up a notch on this runner providing two colorways decked out in classic ABC camo.
The collab features a muted grey colorway first seen on the feet of Kawhi Leonard at All-Star Weekend, and images of the green iteration show in detail the sneakers ode to Bape heritage with signature camouflage at the collar, just above the imprint’s familiar shark teeth motif. The BAPE STA logo is printed onto the vamp, in a tone that complements the tumbled leather underneath. ABZORB and N-ergy cushioning technology make these a ride that offers comfort as well as the hype.
