First teased by KITH director Ronnie Fieg earlier this month, the specifics surrounding the KITH x New Balance 992 “Steel Blue” were kept close to his chest. But now details of the OG 1300-inspired release have come to light, with the silhouette being joined by an accompanying 998 in the same OG aesthetic — and there’s claimed to be three more pairs on the way.
Both arriving very, very soon, the collection starts strong an homage to Fieg’s favorite colorway, made famous on the original New Balance 1300, using its likeness in ways that both suit each individual silhouettes, as well as pay tribute to the OG. Fittingly, the inclusion of the 992, whose recent revival is thanks in part to the retailers, is the pack’s standout, although it’s not to be completely outdone by the 998.
A simple idea with flawless execution, Fieg has simply taken the OG 1300’s blocking and migrated it to the silhouettes, including the use of Steel Blue mesh uppers, light grey tongues, underlays, and midsole detail, and smokey grey pigskin overlays from toe-to-tail. Further nodding the OG, the pairs come complete with a light grey/Steel Blue outlined “N” motif at the midfoot, white flashes on the midsoles and a dark grey rubber outsoles.
The pairs are set to form part of the KITH Spring 2 2020 lineup, which has a release date of May 22nd. So take a peep at the duo below, and get your fingers ready for the drop, because these will likely sell out in seconds.
