Mowalola x New Balance 9060 Releases November 18

After putting her label on ice for almost three year, Nigerian-born designer and singer Mowalola Ogunlesi has returned to Paris Fashion Week 2023 with a bang. Dubbed “Burglarwear,” the range visually explores what it takes to steal and what it means to be stolen, presenting everything from balaclavas to intentionally constricting gowns.

“For Burglarwear, the brand’s defiant return to the runway after a three-year hiatus, Mowalola presents a study of what it truly takes to steal – money, jewelry, data, power, hearts. Unexpected common ground is unearthed between characters you’d otherwise keep firmly apart.”

Though clothing is one integral part of the burglar outfit, it’s the sneakers (for sneaking) that are the most important aspect of not getting caught. For the occasion, New Balance have lent Mowalola the 9060 model for two striking collaborative colorways. Both anchored in cat-suit black, each leather and mesh-prepared sneaker comes popped with glistening iridescent overlays of purple and teal respectively, with midsole accents of yellow and pink. Translucent TPU covers ride the profile N motifs, whilst crimp laces round out the design.
