This Is What A New Balance 2002R by Junya Watanabe MAN Might've Looked Like
The New Balance 2002R launched during an important period in the brand's modern history. And while it's been superseded in popularity by a mix of heritage and modern designs, the "restored" running model from 2010 continues to deliver compelling styles for folks of all preferences.
Recently, the retro design emerged in an all-new 'Black/White' color scheme. While far from reinventing the wheel, the impending makeover brings a refined look to the NB 2002R—one that could've been mistaken as a collaboration with Junya Watanabe MAN.
Suede, leather, and mesh construction across the upper primarily indulges in the darker of the two aforementioned tones. Profile N branding, as well as other accents around the heel, interrupt the near-tonal makeup in a pitch-'White.' Underfoot, the New Balance 860v2's beloved tooling doubles down on the understated color scheme, with only each tech component's name bringing some of the upper's contrasting tone to the bottom-half of the sneakers.
Enjoy a closer-look at the two-tone NB 2002R below. Pairs should quietly arrive to NewBalance.com and select shops soon for approximately $145.
