The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” Returns With New Colorways
After successful collaborations with Saleh Bembry and BAPE, the New Balance 2002R has made a strong comeback, but the brand’s own releases have also significantly contributed to its recent popularity; The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” (AKA “Refined Future”) from mid-2021 remains the most attention-grabbing. The collection featured three distressed colorways – “Rain Cloud,” “Phantom,” and “Sea Salt” – that became popular among customizers and casual wearers alike. A second series of four colors continued the series in 2022, and now, to kick start 2023, the brand is set to release two new colorways, including a heritage “Navy” option, and a staple “Black” scheme.
Each an identical of the other, the only difference between the two makeups is the main color used. With titular hues hitting the mesh uppers, shaggy suede overlays, and leather tongue tips, each pair’s surrounding elements retain some heritage-honoring hues. Clean whites and classic greys flood the finer accents up top, with midsoles of white and beige capped off with a black rubber outsole to round out the designs.
