The New Balance 550 "Black Hemp" Drops June 1st
Continuing the triumphant revival of the New Balance 550 into its third year, the classic basketball silhouette maintains its robust momentum through the brand's innovative exploration of unconventional materials. Historically, the New Balance 550 has graced the scene predominantly in leather uppers, with occasional ventures into suede, most recently in collaboration with Aime Leon Dore. Now, New Balance introduces hemp—a material that infuses a more street-ready aesthetic into this popular model.
The upcoming release presents a full black hemp upper, punctuated by contrasting white 550 branding on the forefoot for a striking visual effect. A solid light grey outsole is nestled beneath the innovative upper, adding to the model's minimalist aesthetic.
Earmarked for a June 1st release, this latest New Balance 550 variant will be available on newbalance.com and at select retailers for $120.
Simultaneously, the brand is set to launch the "White Hemp" 550 the same day, a variant that similarly embraces this innovative material choice.
