New Balance Bring Padded Tongues to a Trio of 550s

As is often the case for the New Balance 550, the Boston-based brand has unveiled a new three-pair pack of thematic design, applying padded, quilted nylon tongues to the retro hoops model.

Dubbed the New Balance 550 “Padded Tongue Pack,” this three-pair collection features padded, quilted nylon tongues. Each pair—navy, beige, and grey—maintains a cohesive look with grey rubber outsoles and sail-tinted midsoles for uniformity.

The uppers diverge from the traditional leather found in previous 550s, opting for soft, supple suede that provides a luxurious feel and appearance. This is paired with tonal yet darker, smooth leather overlays for pop. Mesh collars and nylon tongues follow the tonal theme, creating a seamless color story across each sneaker.

A release is not yet confirmed, but expect this trio to arrive before 2024 concludes.
