Like most retro model resurgences, the New Balance 550 enjoyed a big-name collaboration to kick things off before its fully-fledged flooding of the market. That link-up was with Aimé Leon Dore last year, who returned again with two more vintage-treated options this year. Naturally, we’re assuming that you missed out on a pair of those, but if you’re a fan of the heritage aesthetic, then there’s a quartet of old-school options returning to shelves next week for the silhouette’s biggest restock yet.
A four-set pays tribute to original colorways worn by basketball players in the late ’80s. All four options, the Bulls, Shadow, Neutral Grey, and Magic colorways arrive in the same material construction, with accenting colors the only differentials. Perforated leather, mesh, and smooth leather overlays form the bulk, with black plastic heel clips, liners, and rear branding bolstering up the pairs. Heel overlays, midfoot N’s forefoot 550’s, and outsoles host the respective color pops to complete the design.
