The New Balance 991v2 Takes on A "Vintage Navy" Look
Launched with the help of Stone Island, the New Balance 991v2 has been quietly amassing a compelling roster of styles since Oct. 2023. The latest addition to the lineup is a cool 'Vintage Navy' option.
Built with heritage, the silhouette harkens back to one of New Balance's most iconic silhouettes–the 991. The Steve Jobs-approved design formed part of the company's Made in U.K. efforts, ensuring that customers were getting a high-quality, reliable product. The NB 991v2 continues the trend, but delivers a slightly more modern aesthetic.
At quick glance, the newer model may seem like a relic of the past, but closer inspection reveals touches that firmly place it in the 2020s. A mix of premium suede and breathable mesh comes together across the upper, which indulges in 'Vintage Navy/Steel Blue' tones. V2 branding appears on the spine, ensuring the update has a proper place in New Balance's extensive catalog. Underfoot, the marriage between modern and vintage is seen clearly, as ENCAP and ABZORB components work in-tandem with full-length FuelCell cushioning to deliver top-notch comfort.
A worldwide NewBalance.com launch for the latest NB 991v2 is expected to take place soon. In the meantime, enjoy detailed shots of the pair ahead, courtesy of Up There Store, which already has pairs for sale.
