Elevated basics have been a long-running staple for the affluent and the wannabes. From $100 plain white tees to ludicrous pricetags on windbreakers, upscale shoppers have been forking out bizarre amounts for well-crafted staples. Now, Boston-based footwear giants New Balance who themselves are known for elevated basics, have released an absolute beauty — and it comes without the ridiculous expenditure. The aptly-titled New Balance 997 “Elevated Basics” takes traditional high-quality materials and combining them to create a luxurious-yet-practical lifestyle favorite. And, as you’d expect from the N, this made-in-the-USA sneaker is all about attention to detail.
Uppers are mostly split between stone-washed denim and a patinated, tumbled brown leather. The former arrives on the toe box and collar, with the latter across the toe box and heel. A darker, more worn leather is utilized on the collar and tongue, with a rich brown suede vamp overlay wrapping it all up. A complimentary Bordeaux hue is used on the sneaker’s lining, while an eggshell-colored New Balance embroidery on the tongue and heel tab team with the light laces to provide contrast. Underfoot you’ll find burnt orange heel clips, a cream/white split-colored ENCAP EVA foam midsole, and a classic black rubber outsole completing the design.
The New Balance M997SOC “Elevated Basics” just landed here on the official New Blanace web store and is available right now for a very reasonable $180.
