Almost three decades on, the New Balance 997 is as iconic as ever — and there’s no other color in the Boston Brand’s arsenal that highlights the silhouette more frequently that the timeless tonal grey. This year, the 1990/91 silhouette has been tapped for the brand’s annual Grey Day, their self-proclaimed holiday to celebrate their oft-used and most closely kept color palette. Including both the OG 997and retooled ENCAP 997s, the 2019 New Balance Grey Day pack packs a subtle punch, with both offering the same materials and tones than the other. The OG swaps out the iconic profile “N” motifs in favor of the traditional Made in USA tongue embroidery, while the 997s arrives unchanged.
