This autumn, New Balance is doubling down on its "Made in USA" collection by spotlighting not just one but two classic models: the 998 and the 996. Both pairs bring their own flavor to the table while upholding the brand's commitment to quality and aesthetic poise.
Freshly incorporated into the MADE in USA collection, the New Balance 998 has never looked better, especially as it takes cues from the current "Panda" trend sweeping the fashion landscape. Far from being an uninspired copy, this iteration features a blend of black and white hues enhanced by cream accents. The contrast between the monochrome mid-panel, lace unit, inner lining, and heel tab with the black "N" logo, branding, and adjacent trim brings sophistication to this already elegant silhouette.
The New Balance 996, initially released in 1988, has also undergone a Made in USA makeover. This version features a modern take on the "White/Black" color scheme that highlights its origin. Drenched in shades of white for the multi-layered upper, the sneaker boasts black contrasting profile "N" logos and upper heel overlays. Adding a nostalgic touch, the sole units introduce a slight yellow hue, mimicking the “aged” aesthetic we’ve seen in other works by Santis. Finally, a rugged two-tone outsole blends effortlessly with the top half, making this another stellar addition to the New Balance roster.
Take a closer look at these New Balance 998 and 996 colorways through the official images provided, and expect to see these land at select stockists and New Balance US on September 20, 2023.
