New Balance and Stone island have teased a collaboration that is sure to appease fans of both brands. The news comes following an official image and statement being posted on the pairs social media channels, leaving the rest of us eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
The two of them are already kings of collaborations, with Stone Island recently working with Nike and Supreme. Whilst in the last year New Balance has collaborated with pretty much everyone that is making waves in the creative space, including JJJJound, Patta, and Aime Leon Dore. The brand first linked up in 2013 utilizing the 577 runners in two unique colorways that featured suede and Raso Gommato (Stone Island’s signature jacket material). As well as reflective panels and Stone Island logos on the dubrae and sock liner. The SI 577 were available exclusively at Stone Island flagship stores and select New Balance accounts, and it’s possible we may see a similar release for this collab too.
“Both New Balance and Stone Island are independently minded brands with strong aptitudes for calculated risk-taking,” says Chris Davis, chief marketing officer at New Balance. Carlo Rivetti, president and creative director at Stone Island added “There are only a limited number of brands that can be referred to as iconic”, “with no concession to complacency. Stone Island and New Balance have shown that they are of this breed.
No images of the shoes have arrived yet, but with the current popularity of both brands, it is sure to be a hit with sneakerheads, archive-beasts, and casuals alike.
