Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, streetwear label thisisneverthat has carved out quite a niche market in the Western world thanks to a handful of strategically-placed footwear collaborations. Now comes another as the imprint is once more joining forces with New Balance to put their own unique touch on the market-favorite 550 model.
Distancing itself from its New Balance 2002R, 1906R, and 860v2 collaborations, the Korean label ditches whites, blacks, and greys in favor of a trio of muted hues and stark black accents.
Served up in identical tooling and blocking, the three releases were previewed at Paperboy Paris earlier this week in chocolate brown, teal green, and pink. The
The first is not too dissimilar from the famed JJJJound x New Balance 990v3. Here, the effort serves up a Chocolate Brown canvas upper that extends to the tongues while cracked black leather "N" logos on the profile channel both JJJJound and Aime Leon Dore at the same time. Matching black laces, liners, and sole units complete the bulk of the build, with thisisneverthat branding on the tongues and heels rounding out the design. The other two colors follow its lead, simply swapping the canvas upper colors to teal and pink, respectively.
