A far cry from last year’s Pendleton-packed collection, this year’s Air Max 90 N7 relies upon construction and materials that’s relatively bland in comparison. And when compared to the Native American aesthetic found on the previously-previewed Kyrie 6 N7, this pair feels a little out of place. Of course, we don’t expect every N7 release to derive from Native American and Aboriginal influence, but with the project funding sport and athletic projects for Native kids, you’d expect to see at least some recognizable elements.
Aside from the N7 branding at the tongue and insole, it appears that this year’s Air Max 90 N7 is just your regular release. Neutral mesh bases are paird with tonal with suede overlays and are linked with jet blacks on the nylon tongues, liners, laces, and outsoles. The mudguards are the most intriguing aspect of this Air Max, arriving here in charcoal with a cracked finish — the last of the pair’s neutral tones. From there, vibrant Volt eyelets, plastic panels, and Air cassettes, along with vibrant orange-red Swooshes — provide the pair with eye-popping contrast to complete the design.
