Like a lot of events this year, Nike’s annual Elite Youth Basketball League for 2020 has been officially canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. And while that’s sad for all involved, participants will still be rewarded with exclusives from the Swoosh, as they have done in years passed. This year’s focus surrounds Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 13, and the late Kobe Bryant’s Nike Kobe 5 Protro, both of which fit into an overarching theme of vibrantly colored tie-dyes set against striking blacks and solid neons.
Bryant’s rendition features and black-based upper print-infused with yellows, teals and pinkish-red, and is complimetned by bold black midsoles and stark white Swooshes. Collars, tongue, and laces all arrive in a muted royal blue and is capped off with an awesome vivid orange outsole. KD keeps the colorful flow going, again with a black-based upper, this time featuring an acid wash effect finished in multiple colors. Surrounding black accents enhance the upper’s effect, before being broken up by a shocking volt outsole, and a pech-plum split Swoosh.
EYBL sneakers don’t normally make their way to retail, but it’s more than likely that Kevin Durant’s pair could see a release given the KD 12 EYBL release in 2019 — but I wouldn’t hold your breath for a release on the other pair, given the current hiatus of all Kobe product. Take in a detailed look at the full Nike EYBL 2020 footwear and aparrel collection below, and keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter accountfor further updates.
In other Kobe news, official images of the Kobe 5 Bruce Lee landed mere hours after the alternate colorway was unveiled.
