Considering that Kevin Durant has been sitting on the sidelines in street clothes for the entirety of the 2019-20 NBA season, it seems fitting that Nike would issue the superstar a streetwear-sanctioned release of his thirteenth signature sneaker. And in true KD from (no, it’s not tech fleece) it arrives completely blacked out, save a few subdued finishes. Here, ripstop uppers are dispatched with an acid wash-inspired print, whilst collars and tongues don the overshirt staple plaid. A somewhat confusing-yet-intriguing addition is the inclusion of soft volt on the medial Swoosh, rear KD branding, and outsole portion. The sneaker’s blacks rang from rough suede (Swooshes) toe nubuck (mudguard) as well as matte and low-sheen finishes to the rubberized parts, enabling the varying textures to define distinct sections without the use of color.
