The fruitful partnership between Nike, Inc. and James Whitner's high-end retail branch, A Ma Maniére, is responsible for some of the most sought-after sneakers in recent history.
Past collaborations between the two brands have elegantly reimagined the Air Jordan 1-4 series and the Air Jordan 12. Now, as we edge closer to Holiday 2023, A Ma Maniere is preparing to revisit its interpretation of the underappreciated precursor to the Air Jordan range, the Nike Air Ship, in a clean white and black scheme.
Maintaining the classic simplicity inherent to the Air Ship, the silhouette is predominantly all-white leather, reminiscent of original pairs from the 80s. The tonal stitching on the upper adds depth to the shoe while maintaining the familiar features of the Air Jordan 1 - from the perforated leather on the toebox to the Nike Air branding atop the tongue, which presents itself in stark black. The upper's final touch of black graces the co-branded matte leather collar, showcasing more Nike Air branding in contrasting white. Much like the previous A Ma Maniere iteration of the Air Ship, this version is adorned with the brand's name on the tongue tag. The sneaker sits on an aged rubber midsole, neatly complemented by a black outsole.
The A Ma Maniere x Nike Air Ship "White/Black" is set for release on August 3rd at 11 AM EST via the raffle drawing at amamaniere.com; a Nike.com release is expected on October 31, though the latter is yet to be confirmed by either party.
