We hinted at its release earlier this year, and now it’s confirmed: The Nike Air Ship is returning to retailers for the first time since its debut n 1984 — 35 years on. Detailed looks at the special-edition pack have now arrived, giving us our best-look-yet at the duo.
Earlier this month, Fragment’s own Fujiwara Hiroshiwas first to tease the 35th Anniversary pack, dubbed New Beginnings, which includes Mike’s first two on-court sneakers: the famed Air Ship and the Air Jordan 1 High OG. Both in a clean red and white makeup; the Air Ship a Jordan PE from 1984, and the Red and White Air Jordan 1 based off an early sample worn by Mike during 1985. More so, the Air Jordan 1 arrives in a traditional ’85 high cut, giving us a good indication of what the upcoming remasted line should look like — it even comes with the OG Jumpman hangtag.
The team in the Michael Jordan Building at Nike HQ has been painstakingly piecing this pack together for years now, ensuring that specifications are as close to the original silhouettes as possible — and the purists are happy (and believe me, that’s a rare thing!)
It arrives in special split-box packaging, the Air Ship in a classic grid-detail box, the Air Jordan 1 in it’s OG Black and Red — each with their respective years printed on the flip side of the lid. Pairs are tipped to arrive in February 2020, smack-bang in the middle of the 35th anniversary for both pairs. More information will surely pour out over the next few days and weeks, so be sure to keep your eyes locked on our Twitter feed for further updates.Update 02.07.20 Official images of the pack have landed, along with a release date confirmed for Feb 12th! Take a peep a the two-piece in detail below, and stay tuned for updates to our Buyers Guide below over the coming week.
