AIK x Nike Air Max 90 “CXXX” Celebrates Swedish Football Club’s 130th Anniversary

There is no bigger name in Swedish club football than AIK. Founded in 1891, the Stockholm-based Allmänna Idrottsklubben has a prestigious record at both club and UEFA level and is currently in the midst of a whopping 130th anniversary — and that’s surely worth celebrating.

Purveyors of constant cool, AIK have carved out a reputation as kings of the special edition style in recent seasons, and for their 130 birthday bash, they went all-out on a special black and gold “CXXX edition” kit delivered by sponsored Nike. Of course, with duds so damn fresh, it would naturally progress into off-field wear, too, including tracksuits and more. None would have guessed that the theme would carry over into the footwear category, but it has with this AIK x Nike Air Max 90 “CXXX” — and it’s an absolute marvel.

Understated but elegant, the pair arrives anchored in jet black mesh, with tonal overlays of buttery-soft black leather, Swooshes of supple suede, and ultra-premium leather liners — also in black. Eyestays, Air cassettes, branding panels, branding, and laces all arrive tonal, too, while crisp white outsoles underfoot amp up the pair’s presence. Callouts to the club come via gold foil finish at the heel’s lateral and medial mudguard, with 1891 and AIK pressed in on a diagonal. There’s also an inclusion of the club’s beaming sun and three-castle motifs at the tongue. CX/XX is embedded beneath the semi-translucent outsoles in gold, and the pair is capped off with blue tongue liners as a nod to the club’s shield emblem, and a set of special graphic insoles that nod the stadium’s metro trainline.
