Black Sheep Reveals Exclusive Packaging For The Nike SB Dunk “Black Hornet”

Hometown homage.

Charlotte’s go-to skate shop Black Sheep is getting amongst the All-Star action, collaborating on a Nike SB Dunk High, honoring their home city and the host of the 2019 NBA All-Star game.

Dubbed “a hornets nest of rebellion,” which dates way back to the Revolutionary War, their Nike SB Dunk High called the “Black Hornet” features an all-too-familiar iridescent upper, one we previously saw on 2017’s All-Star collection, a collection that was originally meant to honor Charlotte, before the game was migrated to NOLA at short notice. The pair also tips it’s cap to hometown hero Michael Jordan by way of its elephant print overlays, and a hornet stinger detail on the Swooshes.

Shop owner Josh Frazier, who grew up skating in Air Jordan 1s, saw the high-top Dunk as the perfect canvas to express the nostalgia of the teal and purple combo that has come to signify the city of Charlotte, and through his final design he pays homage to the local scene that blends the energy of basketball and the grit of skateboarding. A special “Hornet’s Nest” Deluxe Edition of the shoes will release exclusively at Black Sheep on Friday, February 15th.

The special package will include a custom shoe-box and an assortment of accessories like a printed woven dust bag, assorted custom Nike SB icon stickers, mini foam basketballs, silver honeycomb dubrae lace locks by Fully Laced, and a 3-pack of “Stinger” silver tip laces.

Release dates will be staggered, with first pairs dropping on February 15th and Black Sheep, other Skate Stores getting their pairs out on the 22nd, and Nike SNKRS dropping pairs on Feb 24th
