The LeBron 17 is one of the most unique sneaker’s we’ve seen from the King’s 17-year-long signature line, but I don’t think its quite living up to its true potential – yet. I do understand why they’ve been a little reserved, though. From a marketing standpoint, you don’t want to overwhelm the masses with extremely wild concepts and vivid color palates from the start, its the easiest way to scare people away. You’ve gotta ease into these things. Just look at the LeBron 15 series: we started out with the tonal “Ghost” and a simplistic “Oreo” before things got progressively adventurous. A similar thing is happening with the 17 right now, but we’re still seeing a lot of tonal options out there. The all-red “Red Carpet”sure makes a statement, and that, for me, is a step in the right direction. And I love the fact that they’re reutilizing throwback colorways, too. And I think it’s time we saw more of that. So today I’ve whipped up another retro-inspired ‘what if…’ colorway, this Concept LeBron 17 “Dunkman”.

It’s a colorway we’ve seen time and time again from Bronny’s signature line, as well as multiple appearances on his take-down models, too. In terms of colors, it’s had a fair share of slight variations over the years, but today’s concept draws heavily of one of the most widely-loved editions of the Dunkman series, the LeBron 7. Vivid volt outsoles, black midsoles, outlined Swooshes, and black uppers all remain consistent with the inspiring pair, and, not to waste that beautiful Foamposite-loaded rear, we’ve also inked it in the audacious neon tone — because if you’re going to make a statement, make it loud and clear. Stay tuned for more LeBron 17 Concept colorways — we’ve got a handful already in the works.
